The Tower of Babel

I am going to start off what sparked me to write about Babel tonight. I don't enjoy television most of the time, there are few shows I watch and get hooked on but would never lose sleep over missing. Movies? Well, I am happy with replaying over and over again whats on the dvr. Gonna be bored anyway. Until I went back down the channel line up at 7 its now 11:30 found this show. Ancient Discoveries. I am on board. Happily, surprisingly, the fiance was on board. Theres mechanics and science involved.. If you are not familiar with the story of  the tower of babel in the  bible I will address this question to you. Where did all our different languages come from, our colors, our ethnicity, our differences. God is one being. Why are we so many beings with similiar beliefs. ? We started as a one people. God wanted us to spread out and grow in number. (pro-create) Spread the name of God.  Man being man thought, why spread out? What we have is good, lets make it great. So they built a city, grew in number, and built a tower to the heavens showing off there skills. God saw there tower and seen it as a device that would steer people away from the glory of god. He was saddened and angered. People thought if they could just get close enough they could be godly enough without all the caring, giving, providing, respect, etc. earth involves. They could just walk to heaven. God comes back in and confuses the languages. english to spanish spanish to french and german or russia etc. etc. he seperated the species. american, asian, german, african, french, etc. etc. etc. again. The great divide. of cultures, language, wisdom, and color. While we disappoint God the good news is he is always there accepting our apology .

Genesis 11

If He Came to your House

Would you meet him at the door with arms outstretched in welcome?

Or would you have to change your clothes before you let him in?

Or hide some magazines and put the Bible where they'd been?

Would you hide your wordly music and put some hymn books out?

Could you let Jesus walk right in, or would you rush about? And I wonder - if the saviour spent a day or two with you Would you go on doing the same things you always do? Would you go right on saying the things you always say? Would life continue as it does from day to day? Would you take Jesus with you every where you planned to go?

Or would you maybe change your plans for just a day or so? Would you be glad to have him meet your very closest friends? Or would you be glad they stay away until his visit ends? would you be glad for him to stay forever on each day? Or will you sigh in relief when his visit ends? If Jesus came in person to spend some time with you, What would you do? It is an awakening question, thought provoking. I believe unfortunately most would hesitate. Tidy up. And wish him to go away. Examine what is important in your life,

                 A Daily Prayer

Give us, Lord, a bit of sun. A bit of work and a bit of fun. Give us in all the struggle and sputter, all daily bread and a bit of butter. Give us health, our keep to make, and a bit to spare for others sake. Give us too, a bit of song, and a tale and a book to help us along.

Give us, Lord,  a chance to be, our godly best, brave, wise and free.

Our godly best for ourselves and others, til' all men learn to live as brothers.

                    Faith

If you have faith and you believe, there are mountains you can move. If you have confidence in your plans, there are theories you can prove.

If you have faith in life itself, and in things you want to do. There is no doubt that everything will turn out just right for you,

Hold your head high through the day and place your trust in him .

You will find things not so bad and the going not too grim.

Put your courage to the test, prove your not afraid. Go ahead with dreams and plans for which you've often prayed.

Take a chance at the unkown, have firm faith in yourself. Don't hide the knowledge that you have or cast your talents on the shelf!

Put your shoulder to the wheel, and it will not be very long; when suddenly you'll realize that your faith has made you strong.

Psalm 37

Do not be envious of evildoers, for they will fade like the grass. The righteous will inherit the earth. The LORD is their stronghold.

Psalms 23

The LORD Is My Shepherd
A Psalm of David.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake.

4Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;

my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.

These are the secret sayings that the living Jesus spoke and Didymos Judas Thomas recorded.

1. And he said, "Whoever discovers the interpretation of these sayings will not taste death."

2. Jesus said, "Those who seek should not stop seeking until they find. When they find, they will be disturbed. When they are disturbed, they will marvel, and will reign over all. [And after they have reigned they will rest.]"

3. Jesus said, "If your leaders say to you, 'Look, the (Father's) kingdom is in the sky,' then the birds of the sky will precede you. If they say to you, 'It is in the sea,' then the fish will precede you. Rather, the (Father's) kingdom is within you and it is outside you.

When you know yourselves, then you will be known, and you will understand that you are children of the living Father. But if you do not know yourselves, then you live in poverty, and you are the poverty."

4. Jesus said, "The person old in days won't hesitate to ask a little child seven days old about the place of life, and that person will live.

For many of the first will be last, and will become a single one."

5. Jesus said, "Know what is in front of your face, and what is hidden from you will be disclosed to you.

For there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed. [And there is nothing buried that will not be raised.]"

6. His disciples asked him and said to him, "Do you want us to fast? How should we pray? Should we give to charity? What diet should we observe?"

Jesus said, "Don't lie, and don't do what you hate, because all things are disclosed before heaven. After all, there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed, and there is nothing covered up that will remain undisclosed."

7. Jesus said, "Lucky is the lion that the human will eat, so that the lion becomes human. And foul is the human that the lion will eat, and the lion still will become human."

8. And he said, "The person is like a wise fisherman who cast his net into the sea and drew it up from the sea full of little fish. Among them the wise fisherman discovered a fine large fish. He threw all the little fish back into the sea, and easily chose the large fish. Anyone here with two good ears had better listen!"

9. Jesus said, "Look, the sower went out, took a handful (of seeds), and scattered (them). Some fell on the road, and the birds came and gathered them. Others fell on rock, and they didn't take root in the soil and didn't produce heads of grain. Others fell on thorns, and they choked the seeds and worms ate them. And others fell on good soil, and it produced a good crop: it yielded sixty per measure and one hundred twenty per measure."

10. Jesus said, "I have cast fire upon the world, and look, I'm guarding it until it blazes."

11. Jesus said, "This heaven will pass away, and the one above it will pass away.

The dead are not alive, and the living will not die. During the days when you ate what is dead, you made it come alive. When you are in the light, what will you do? On the day when you were one, you became two. But when you become two, what will you do?"

12. The disciples said to Jesus, "We know that you are going to leave us. Who will be our leader?"

Jesus said to them, "No matter where you are you are to go to James the Just, for whose sake heaven and earth came into being."
